A Social Security Number Trace is used to verify that the applicant has listed correct information regarding his or her identity on the employment application. The trace should verify the applicant's social security number, current and former names, current and former addresses, and might list up to three former employers.
People wishing to distance themselves from a troubled past frequently change their names and/or social security numbers. This index will quickly identify those individuals.
We will notify you if additional names and addresses appear on the Social Security Number Trace. It is advised that criminal records be searched with all names provided by the applicant and the trace. We also advise that all jurisdictions where the applicant has claimed residence or the trace has listed residence be searched. Please note that we will not conduct these additional searches without your approval.
